BEHIND THE BOTTLE

Got the drink in me, going back to back -Drake

Drake, it was indeed time to go back to back. After the amazing reception that the Riff Rye had, Ylli was back at it again to pick another banger of a rye. This pick was in conjunction with Allocated’s The HighRye Bourbon pick when Long and Ylli were down in Kentucky.

Generally, anything under the FDI umbrella is going to be more cocktail oriented, as ALCTD gets only a portion of the FDI picks. The rest of the barrel of course is being cooked on in the best Manhattan you’ll have in town, over at Fiori D’Italia.

EDITOR’S NOTES: This pick was truly trying to mimic our last Riff Rye pick. The setting was laid out where there were samples in front of us already and we ended up picking a rye from the flight- however, Creola (Single Barrel Manager at New Riff) saw something in my eyes that said ‘his pants aren’t blown off,’ and she was right. We then discussed that we wanted to replicate the rye that we previously picked. Creola said, “say less.” Fast forward about 20 minutes and she comes back with another flight. Out of this flight, without us knowing it, they were all the same cooper, char, rickhouse and all. We ended up choosing this because of the similarities of the last one. Is it better than the Riff Rye? You decide.
