BEHIND THE BOTTLE

The rye guy is back at it again with another one. It’s honestly very hard to follow the latest rye drop of the RC AWGF KRY Rye, but this was picked for other reasons. Slowly working his way through his final ryes in the well over at Fiori D’Italia, Ylli knew he had to re-up on an other phenomenal rye. This just happens to be one of the nicest priced ryes out there. There were a total of 6 barrel samples that ended up at the final table, and it was clear that when it was asked ‘what was everyone’s favorite,’ there was a clear winner. This rye hits on all cylinders. While being younger than some other expressions released, this bottle impressed for the age and price point. It was a no-brainer and the rest is history.

EDITOR’S NOTES: I’d be damn if I knew this was a 95/5 of any sort since I swore there was a sweetness on the palate that screamed corn on the first sip. The only sweeter-velvetier tasting ryes I’ve had have been aged longer, or of course, had corn in the mashbill. Color me impressed. As it opens up, there is without a doubt that this is a straight rye. All quintessential rye notes shine through in this dram. This was just as good as the day we sampled it...a delicious and well-balanced rye altogether.
