TASTING NOTES
NOSE: Simple syrup, honey, maple, marzipan, creme brulee custard, vanilla, chocolate, baking spice
PALATE: White raisins, distilled grapes, honey ice cream, toffee, bourbon flavored creamer, pear, buttery, baking spice, candied citrus fruits, dry
FINISH: Snappy finish, subtle dryness, nutty, semi-sweet, oaky tannin, peppercorn, dry tobacco, bittersweet cherries
BEHIND THE BOTTLE
Armagnac: A distinctive kind of brandy produced in the Armagnac region in Gascony, southwest France. Traditionally single distilled wine in a column still, usually made from a blend of grapes including; baco 22a, colombard, folle blanche and ugni blanc. Typically more fragrant and flavorful than it’s sister spirit, cognac.
Where were you on May 21st, 2024? We know where Somm Team Six were- they were at Fiori D’Italia doing the Lord’s work. Watching the comedy show of Long blinding Pablo on his whiskey babies while the audience got to vote on which barrel gets the final rose for Alaska.
This of course is part deux of the iconic Fiori D’ Italia Rare Character Dinner Barrel Select. It’s election year after all, and this time the crowd had a clear favorite. We’re talking 2:1 votes for the first place winner to the runner-up. Such a rollercoaster on the nose and palate. Judge it for yourself and see if this is indeed what our Alaskan market has always yearned for! We say that, because lord knows Long’s one who got away, didn’t get the rose at the end of the night. IYKYK.
EDITOR’S NOTES: I said it at the dinner and I’ll say it again, AK wants that sweet heat baby! And everyone at the dinner was a bunch of basics ;) of course the Armagnac cask would win, it was so damn good…but sometimes you want a rollercoaster ya know? A lil slap in the face sometimes. Don’t worry, the one who got away will be making her way to AK soon…
