CASK INFO: 4 years and 6 months in charred new oak, 1 year finish in white port seasoned cask

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Cornfield, red apple, toffee, hubba bubba, hibiscus

PALATE: Sweet, viscous, cherry, lychee oak, cloves, spice, juiccy

FINISH: Long, tart marachino cherries, port, subtle tannins

BEHIND THE BOTTLE

Port: Merriam-Wikipedia defines Port as a Portuguese fortified wine produced in the Douro Valley of northern Portugal. It is typically a sweet red wine, often served with dessert, although it also comes in dry, semi-dry and white varieties.

When it was mentioned that Mr. Pablo Moix was coming to Alaska, Ylli was ecstatic. Those who know Pablo’s history, know that Ylli and him were damn near cut from the same cloth with regards of their careers. From bartending in college and mastering mixology to running their own restaurants, both this boiz know a thing or two about spirits. Pablo, just took it to another level. The relationships Pablo has in the industry, people could only dream of having. What does that mean? He gets casks from sources that you’d be iced if you ask questions about.

Then comes the dinner. Ylli, as much as there’s an eagle everywhere you look (he’s Albanian), he is American. In America, we are govern as a democracy. Ylli had the great idea of picking a barrel with all his patrons who got him to where he was. There were about 3 drams that were presented to vote upon that night, and the people have spoken. White Port babby. October 19th, 2022, twas a night to remember!

EDITOR’S NOTES: Jesus, I thought I was at OMNIA in Vegas that night. This dinner was supposed to be 40-50 people…but it was 98 heads that night. My ass has never grazed so many people’s shoulders in my life. ALSO, my #1 pick didn’t get chosen, so I’m a lil’ salty about it. However, I suppose 60+ is a larger number than 18. I SUPPOSE. P.S. let this one open up a bit….look at the proof…she gonna slap you in the ass.
