BEHIND THE BOTTLE | PT. I

Both the Dark Arts barrels started with a simple trip out to Kentucky.

Ways back a bit Ylli and a few friends all headed out to Kentucky for a few distillery tours and a couple barrel picks. One on the way happened to be Wilderness Trail. At the time, still an up-and-coming distillery. With no traction for Wilderness Trail in Alaska, they built up the popularity with the first barrel pick in AK, so it was only natural to drop by Wilderness Trail when down there. The distillery and property were amazing there, especially for being pretty much new. After their tour of the entire facility they made their way to the private barrel pick room. This is where Ylli got to see the genius mind of Macaulay Minton - the Master Blender at the time. Ylli eventually ended up committing to a 3-barrel blend that was out of this world. People who know Ylli and the program he runs at Fiori, know that he’s a rye guy. So it was a match made in heaven when he met Macaulay, as their palates lined up all the same.

EDITOR’S NOTES: This some ollddddd stuff. All of Macaulay’s juice is ‘low rye’ in his eyes, at 36%, which we all absolutely love. You want one to nurse over the span of an hour or two? You found it.
