BEHIND THE BOTTLE
One of the most consumed ryes from Kentucky? You guessed it- Knob Creek.
Known for its big, bold, and spicy profile while maintaining balance, ALCTD knew they had to have a barrel. Funny enough, when selecting a Knob Creek barrel, it’s typically a ‘you want one, we send it’ situation rather than a true pick. To get around that and hand-select a barrel, you have to make the trip to Kentucky.
That’s exactly what ALCTD did on their last visit.
It was ice-cold in the rickhouse, so naturally, Ylli and Long spent the better half of an hour warming up their Glencairns. Knob Creek doesn’t mess around when they say bold and spicy. Since ALCTD had already released softer ryes (New Riff), they were on the hunt for a true rye bomb- something that could hold up in cocktails but also be sipped neat by rye fanatics.
After narrowing it down to two barrels, #10925 took the final rose. A true representation of Knob Creek’s signature flavor profile, this selection was named The Kentucky Rye- a nod to the fact that most Kentucky ryes are barely legal at 51% rye. Knob Creek ups the ante slightly, using a 55% rye mash bill for that extra kick.
